The Story Behind RinkZoni
RinkZoni started the way the best hockey stories do on real ice, in real backyards, with a family that just wanted better conditions to play.
What began as a hands-on project quickly turned into something more. Early units were built piece by piece, cutting piping in the cold, assembling by hand, and testing them where it mattered most: on backyard rinks, ponds, and community ice.
Every detail came from lived experience.
We weren’t building a product, we were solving a problem.
And it worked.
Families started getting more time on the ice. Smoother surfaces. Longer skate sessions. Better memories.
That’s when we knew we had something.
We took RinkZoni directly to the hockey community, tournaments, arenas, and local events putting it in the hands of the people who would use it most. Retailers began picking it up. Demand grew. Orders started coming in from across Canada, the U.S., and internationally.
As the product evolved, so did the brand.
(At one point, let’s just say a certain “ice machine that rhymes with Zoni” encouraged us to rethink our name… so we did what hockey families do we adapted and kept going.)
Today, RinkZoni has entered its next chapter.
We’ve partnered with an overseas manufacturer to scale production while maintaining the quality that built our reputation. We’ve secured a licensing agreement with Hockey Canada, opening the door to national exposure and expanded retail opportunities.
But at its core, nothing has changed.
RinkZoni is still built by hockey people, for hockey people.
Because better ice doesn’t just improve the game
It creates more time, more memories, and more moments that matter.
And we’re just getting started.
